If you are having problems with affiliate links or protected download links redirecting properly it is more than likely that you have a web host that does not accept the standard htaccess file that comes with the script.

I have a list of known hosts who require modifications to make the script redirects function properly. You can view the list of hosts and fixes here:

Simple Member Pro / Is there a limit to how much HTML can go on one page?
« on: January 17, 2009, 06:04:23 PM »
Some people have reported a problem with getting really long download pages to actually enter into the system. What happens is the script submits and comes back saying that the form was successfully submitted but the download page information is not saved.

This is not a problem with the script but a limit with MySql databases. The databases can only hold a certain amount of data in any one database cell. If you try to enter more data than the cell will hold then it will not enter any data into the database cell.

This would apply to any database cell so it affects any page you are trying to store in the database, such as sales pages and download pages.

It seems several web hosts are changing up the way their servers handle php. Some are changing security settings and others are running php as cgi. This causes the .htaccess file to not work and requires a custom file. I have some servers figured out and I will post each one here as I get new configurations figured.

If you have one of the hosting providers listed below change the .htaccess file to the code listed. If you have problems and your host is not listed then PM me and we will work on getting the script to work with your host.

TIC, 1&1, HostGator, slhost, Heart Internet:
Code: [Select]
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule go/(.*) go.php?var1=$1&var2=$2
Change the file named "go" to "go.php"

1&1:
Code: [Select]
<Files go>
ForceType x-mapp-php4
</Files>

midphase, anhosting, Bluehost, Thirdsphere:
Code: [Select]
<FilesMatch go>
SetHandler application/x-httpd-php5
</FilesMatch>

or
Code: [Select]
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule go/(.*) go.php?var1=$1&var2=$2

Godaddy, TrustaHost:
Code: [Select]
Options +FollowSymLinks
Options -MultiViews
RewriteEngine on

RewriteBase /

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

RewriteRule go/(.*) go.php?var1=$1&var2=$2 [L]
Change the file named "go" to "go.php"

Reseller Panel:
Code: [Select]
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule go/(.*)(.*) go.php?var1=$1&var2=$2
Change the file named "go" to "go.php"

Others - try this:
Code: [Select]
<Files go>
SetHandler application/x-httpd-php
</Files>
Change the name of the file go.php to just go (remove the .php)

When you use the site partner gifts either running a standard giveaway or when adding that feature to a paid or free site the gift ranking is always decided exactly the same.

First, no ranking points are awarded until the JV has an APPROVED gift in the system. When the scripts checks to see if it should award ranking points it will search for a gift by the JV and make sure it has been approved by the site admin before awarding the ranking points.

Second, all ranking points are tracked with the gift. This is stored in the gifts details in the database. This means several things. The JV must have an approved gift to get rank points, if the JV edits the gift after it has been approved it will go into pending status and will not earn rank points until the admin approves the gift again, and if the admin or JV deletes the gift then the rank points are lost forever.

Remember, if the JV doesn't have an approved gift when they get the referral they do not earn the rank point. This can not be added later so you must make your JV's aware that they must get their gift in and have it approved before they start promoting.

Simple Member Pro / How the timed content works with Simple Member Pro
« on: January 16, 2009, 02:39:18 PM »
The timed content is set up to work similar to how autoresponders work.

The first step is to create a campaign. Everything is tracked by product id's and campaign names so the campaign name is the place to start.

Once you have created a campaign you will then go in and set up the content for that campaign. Each content page will be delivered seperately. When creating the timed content pages there is a place to enter how long someone has to be a member to get that content. This is very important and you need to keep track of this when creating the content.

Each page will have a delivery period depending on the setting you chose for how long a person has to be a member and content is delivered in order according to the number you enter into that position.

This is a basic example of how the content is delivered.

For the content you have a campaign named Start One and you have 3 content items set up under it. The first content page is set for 0 since you want it delivered as soon as the member signs up. The second is set for 30 so he gets it 30 days after being a member. The third is set for 60 so he gets it 60 days after being a member.

Now you have 3 members: A, B and C.

A just joined today so he gets access only to the first content page.
B joined 30 days ago so he has access to the first and second content pages.
C joined 60 days ago so he has access to all three content pages.

This is tracked by the members sign up date so everyone always starts out on content page one regardless of when they sign up. This is set up this way so that you can time release content on a consistant basis and people get rewarded for staying with your site by getting additional content delivered over time instead of all at once and cancelling the membership after a few days.

Simple Member Pro / Simple Member Pro Token Dictionary
« on: January 16, 2009, 02:13:50 PM »
Some of the tokens are required to make the script work properly and some are just added to allow you to insert extra information or customize the customers experience. If you are unsure what a token does you can test it by inserting into a page and save the page. Then view the page as a regular customer would be seeing it. You can then see what information was inserted by the token and decide if it is what you want to use.
