OTO glitch
« on: February 10, 2011, 10:17:37 AM »
I am getting a strange glitch with the OTO when people sign up.  I noticed it as I was doing a tutorial.

After Paypal returns the signup, and after it validates the payment, it's supposed to show the OTO - and it tries.. but there is some weird glitch.  It shows the header and footer, but not the body of the page.

ANY ideas??  The OTO is really the primary product for the site... the monthly is just to get them in the door.

On closer inspection of the footer image (see screenshot above), it seemed something was "in" the footer, moving the image to the side, so I blew up the image and zoomed in.  I don't know that it has anything to do with the OTO as such, but will post the image, and continue my investigation.

AND - tell me if this is an entirely different issue - it's not registering sales in the stats inside.

Rather, it's registering THAT a sale has been made - but not showing the $ amount.  Could this be related?

Hi

Is this a fresh 3.04 install or an upgraded version?

Also, did you edit the default OTO sales page or add your own? If you added your own, did it include a header and footer or is that just the site defaults?

Cheers

David

Hi Dave,
Thanks for getting back with me.

Hi

Is this a fresh 3.04 install or an upgraded version?

I upgraded.

This was an added one - I think I went with the site defaults.  I think I may have deleted the default one...  bet that's just a database setting though, bet I could undelete it...

Can you try using the default one (code below) and see if you have the same results?

Code: [Select]
<DIV>
<DIV style="BORDER-RIGHT: black 2px solid; PADDING-RIGHT: 15px; BORDER-TOP: black 2px solid; PADDING-LEFT: 15px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 15px; BORDER-LEFT: black 2px solid; WIDTH: 600px; PADDING-TOP: 15px; BORDER-BOTTOM: black 2px solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffccff">
<H1>Sample OTO Page</H1>
<P>This is the [[product_name]] sample OTO page. </P>
<P align=left>The content of this page is pasted into the Sales Page box in the Customize One Time Offer Page in the site admin panel. This page shows in the member area upon first login and DOES NOT include header and footer html. The header and footer from the member area will be included automaticly so DO NOT code header and footer html into this page. </P>
<P>[[product_name]] costs $[[price]] and can be ordered by clicking the PayPal button below. </P>
<P>Remember: this is a one time offer that will never be repeated, so take advantage of it now! </P>[[paypal_button]]
<P align=center><A href="index.php">No Thanks!, I understand that this is the only chance I'll have to take advantage of this offer.</A></P></DIV></DIV>

Hey - THAT works!!

I must have deleted something important.  I'll compare the code for each of those, and see if I can come up with what I did/didn't do.

Thanks a bunch!

I think it's if you add extra header/footer code. I had the same problem once myself.

Just edit that page and use the site header/footer.

I edited that page, and am once again having the issue.  I definitely did NOT add a header.  Here is all the code I have in there:

Code: [Select]
<div>
  <div style="border: 0px solid white; padding: 0px; width: 100%;">
    <div align="center">
      <table width="750" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="25" border="0" id="table1">
        <tbody>
          <tr>
            <td>
              <h1 align="center" style="font-family: Arial Black;"><span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);">STOP! It Is Absolutely Vital That You Read EVERY Word On This Page - Once You Leave, You Will Never See It Again!</span></h1>
              <p align="center">&nbsp;</p>
              <p align="left"><span style="font-weight: bold; font-family: Arial;">From the desk of Patricia Reszetylo <img width="200" height="268" border="0" align="right" src="http://club-horse-talk.com/c-h-t/images/patriciaandsparky2medsmall.jpg" /></span></p>
              <p align="left"><span style="font-weight: bold; font-family: Arial;"> Howdy, Fellow Horse Lover!</span></p>
              <p><span style="font-weight: bold;">Congratulations! </span>You've made a wonderful decision to invest in YOUR equine education! This is one of the pursuits in life where the learning never ends - the more you learn, the more you find there is to know about our horses and ourselves.</p>
              <p><span style="font-weight: bold;">That's why </span>I wanted to take the opportunity to offer you a once-in-a-lifetime deal: the opportunity to upgrade your membership to a LIFETIME of learning for just one low price.</p>
              <p><span style="font-weight: bold;">See, I already know you're like me - you not only love horses, but you're <span style="font-style: italic;">passionate</span> about them,</span> and you know there is more education, more to learn about them. That's why I continue to do teleseminars, and nowadays, webinars too - there are some REALLY cutting edge clinicians out there, people who can teach us some REALLY neat stuff. I'm not talking aobut the mainstream, popular clinicians... oh, no. These people are changing the way we look at hoof care, nutrition, and "physical therapy" for our horses, not the ones pandering to the masses.</p>
              <p><span style="font-weight: bold;">So I am continually adding more audios and videos to this library. </span>You don't want to miss them. Your horse doesn't want you to miss them. </p>
              <p align="center"><span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);">The best way to ensure that you NEVER miss anything is to upgrade your subscription to a lifetime membership. You'll have full access to everything we ever do.</span></p>
              <p align="center"><span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);">The LifeTime Membership is usually $397 - but because you're a valued customer, and because you'll never see this page again, today it's only $[[price]].</span></p>
              <p style="text-align: center;"> [[paypal_button]]</p></td>
          </tr>
        </tbody>
      </table></div></div></div>

I AM doing it from a coding angle rather than WSIWYG, so will try doing it THAT way instead.

That looks like it works! I have to give it a white background, so the text is visible, and tweak how the button looks, but I think we're home!

Thanks - greatly appreciate the help!

Can you tell me, so I don't mess it up next time, what was wrong so it didn't show?

I still don't have this right -- I need the page body background white, and can we center that Paypal button?

Gonna take a break.  Too many hours in front of this machine..

Any number of more tries - I give up, it's just not working.

When I put in the code you gave me, either of them, it works.  The custom page bleeds over the edges, and needed the "I'll pass" link, so I tweaked those, and - I get the original, nothing page.
