For the record, Magreth's site DID need the GoDaddy code as per Johnny's previous post but as SMP was installed in a sub-directory the RewriteBase / part needed amending to

RewriteBase /smpfolder/ - where "smpfolder" is the name of the SMP install directory.

It also needed the download directory to be in the SMP directory.
