hidden downloads
« on: December 31, 2009, 10:00:54 PM »

Thanks to anyone that can help me.

I have SMB installed, etc and cannot figure out how the downloads folders and links work.

I created the "Protected Download Directory:" and copied files into it.

Under "get products" link there are NO files listed only the
"Sorry, no free products are currently available."
or the
"This is the download page for the main product."

Why are the downloads not listed?

To me this also raises a further question:
How do we separate the free downloads from the paid downloads since
there is only one "protected download directory"?

Also, if I use the suggested link (http://yoursite.com/go.php/downloads/filetodownload.zip)
for a download link I get a 404 not found page.

I must be missing something very simple since no one else seems to have had these problems/questions.

I use hostgator and have the following in the .htaccess file:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule go/(.*) go.php?var1=$1&var2=$2

TIA,
popzzz

Hi,

I have both smb & smp.

On smb go to your set up sales pages, if its a free products page then go there and edit bottom box with your download link,
like <a href="/directory/go/downloads/file.zip">Download Product</a>

I think that will work.

Can't tell you about htaccess, haven't set up my protected download yet.

Tip: If you can get SMP, you will like it a lot better.

Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Joe

Hi Popzzz

PM me your admin log in and ftp details and I will take a look. It's more than likely an htaccess problem that can easily be fixed.

Hi,

I have the same problem with HostGator. SMB is installed under "http://www.MyDomain.com/a/".
I replaced the .htaccess as described in the readme.
Let`s say my protected download directory is called xxxxx. The free downloadfile is test.zip.

Then the link should look like
<a href="http://www.MyDomain.com/a/go.php/downloads/test.zip">Testfiles</a>

But I get an empty page with "nothing to see here"

How is the correct link??

I have another problem. Look in the thread "Database error when editing pages"

Hope sombody can help

Thanks

in "htaccess variations.txt" is written that with HostGator I have to rename "go" to "go.php"

Any idea?

Even though it's go.php - on the link you use /go/downloads/

Thank you David!

It works fine.

I'm just starting my business, and have first to earn some money before I purchase the Pro version.

Thanks for supporting me.
